You can get up to 6 lines of text printed on the tag. The more you you print the text gets gradually smaller, so can become difficult to read. The Large tags can obviously take more text than the Small ones.

When we receive your order, if we believe that the printing you have requested is likely to be too much for the tags, we will contact you to suggest varying it.

The Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that “any dog in a public place shoud wear the name and address of the owner either inscribed on the collar or a name plate or disc attached to it”

Whilst it has been a legal requirement in the UK since 6 April 2016 for all dogs to be microchipped, the Control of Dogs Order still requires the dog to have their owner’s name and address on a collar.

Your address can simply be your house number or name and your postcode. There is no legal requirement for a fullpostal address.

It is not a legal requirement to have a telephone number on a tag, but it is highly recommended. If your dog becomes separated from you and someone finds them, it is very important that they can contact you with their whereabouts.

All of the tags are 2mm thick. The Large metal tags measure 35mm wide by 35mm high and weigh 10g. The Small metal tags are 25mm wide by 25mm high and weigh 7g.

The Plexy tags weigh 3g for the Large size and 2g for the Small ones, they measure 35mm x 35mm (L) and 25mm x 25mm (S).

The resin bubble on the back will be waterproof after 24 hours of it being put on. This is important to know if you have a dog that likes to swim. After that initial 24 hours there should be no issues with the dog swimming with the tag on.

If the dog is swimming in the sea we recommend washing the tag and ring off with fresh water soon afterwards. Whilst the tag will not rust the ring will.
